William Ellis-Hancock

Hello, I’m Will. I graduated from the University of Edinburgh with a degree in Middle Eastern Studies and began my career in Financial PR and Strategic Communications. I worked with companies listed on both the Main and AIM markets of the London Stock Exchange, supporting management teams across sectors including Technology, Industrials, Support Services, and Clean Energy. My role focused on helping senior leadership communicate their businesses’ financial performance and growth strategies to investors and other key stakeholders.

At Ecovis, I am able apply those skills in a new context and continue developing as I work towards becoming a qualified accountant. While working in Financial PR, I was always curious about the mechanics behind business decisions and accounting felt like the right path to deepen that understanding while still contributing to the long-term success of my clients. I work with an interesting range of businesses, from TV and Film production companies to technology and financial services businesses. I’m looking forward to building my technical skills and working with the team to deliver value to our clients.

• What are your favourite hobbies?

Outside of work I really enjoy watching and playing football, cricket and golf. I also enjoy cooking, good food and history, with a particular interest in Ottoman history and architecture.

• What was your first job?

There was a dairy farm near my house in Devon which I used to help out on.

• What’s the most exciting thing on your bucket list?

I’m not sure how exciting it is, but a trip to Australia to watch the Ashes is top of the list!
