Hello, I’m Sam. I joined Ecovis straight after graduating from Southampton University in 2016. As a qualified Chartered Accountant, I look after a portfolio of entrepreneurial clients within the creative industries space. It’s so inspiring to be working in this exciting sector and I consider it a privilege to be helping start-ups grow and flourish.

Ecovis built its foundations within the media and entertainment industry, and I find it invaluable to be able to tap into this wealth of experience and knowledge within our team. Over the last two years, the effects of the pandemic have had a significant negative impact for many producers, and their on and off-screen teams. Knowing that I am on-hand to provide the best advice to make a positive contribution to my clients’ businesses and help them overcome the challenges is incredibly rewarding.

Alternative career choice?

Interior designer. Buying my first property this year has given me a new passion for interior design. Spending time browsing for pieces of furniture, looking at paint samples and taking numerous trips to Ikea to buy fake plants (we’ve all been there!) is my idea of heaven – who says accountants aren’t creative?

My first job?

I worked in a horse riding club where I was responsible for grooming the horses, keeping the stables clean and assisting in kid’s riding lessons. As part of this I was also given free lessons which was great!

As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?

History has always been my favourite subject and growing up I wanted to be a Museum curator and travel around the world in the search for interesting artefacts. Perhaps it was just the travelling that enticed me though…
