A bit about me

Hello, I’m Sam.

I joined Ecovis in 2016 after graduating from the University of Southampton and have had the opportunity to grow my career alongside many of our clients. As a Director in our Audit & Business Advisory team, I advise entrepreneurial businesses across the creative industries, with a particular focus on television, film, music and wider media businesses.

What I enjoy most about my role is getting to know the people behind the businesses. Whether I’m supporting a fast-growing production company, an established media group or the founders of a creative start-up, I aim to be more than just an auditor. I take great satisfaction in helping ambitious businesses navigate change, overcome challenges and achieve their goals.

While audit remains a key part of what I do, my focus is very much on the sector as a whole. I enjoy working collaboratively with colleagues across the firm to deliver a broader range of services, including supporting clients with creative industry tax credit projects and other specialist advisory matters. The variety this brings means that no two days are ever the same and helps me develop a deeper understanding of the businesses I work with. Over the years, I’ve developed particular expertise in the financial and commercial challenges faced by film, television and music businesses, allowing me to provide practical advice tailored to the unique needs of the sector.

One of the things I enjoy most about working in the media and entertainment sector is how quickly it evolves. From developments in tax incentives and funding structures through to the growing influence of AI, I enjoy staying close to the trends shaping the future of the industry. As a firm, we’re committed to staying ahead of the curve, helping clients understand not only the accounting and reporting implications of these changes, but also the wider opportunities and challenges they may create.

Having spent my entire professional career at Ecovis, I’m proud to be part of a firm that combines technical expertise with a genuinely personal approach. The strongest client relationships are built on trust, understanding and practical advice, and I enjoy working closely with businesses as they navigate change, seize opportunities and pursue their ambitions.

Personally speaking

  • What is your favourite way to spend a weekend?

A good weekend would usually involve a long walk, catching up with family or friends, a good book and exploring a new coffee spot or brunch venue. If the weather cooperates, an occasional glass of chilled Provence rosé doesn’t go amiss either.

  • If you could travel anywhere tomorrow, where would you go?

I’d probably choose somewhere I’ve never been before. I love exploring new places and experiencing different cultures, so I’m always looking for inspiration for the next trip.
