Lucy Dey

Hello, I’m Lucy.

I graduated from the University of York with a First Class degree in Mathematics in 2019 and joined Ecovis remotely in July 2020. I qualified as an ACA Chartered Accountant and am proud to have been a two-time ICAEW prize winner during my ACA examinations.

As an Audit Manager within the Audit & Business Advisory team, I manage a diverse portfolio of clients ranging from entrepreneurial businesses to international groups. I have particular focus in investment property audits, working with large property groups and special purpose entities, and advising clients on complex accounting, financial reporting and audit matters. The variety of businesses I work with means no two days are the same, which is one of the aspects of the role I enjoy most.

I am passionate about audit quality, innovation and finding smarter ways of working. As AI continues to transform the profession, I have taken a keen interest in how technologies such as Copilot and other AI tools can be embedded within audit processes to improve efficiency, enhance audit quality and allow teams to focus more time on areas that require professional judgement. I enjoy exploring new ways technology can support both our clients and our people.

One of the things I value most about Ecovis is its collaborative culture. Despite joining remotely, I have built great relationships across the firm and particularly enjoy opportunities such as our annual Away Day, where colleagues from different departments can come together, share ideas and strengthen connections.

• What is your favourite way to spend a weekend?

I’m a big foodie, so my ideal weekend would usually involve discovering a new restaurant with friends or family. You’ll often find me out and about enjoying good food, a couple of spritzes, and exploring different cuisines. Outside of that, I enjoy keeping active and planning my next trip abroad.

• What was your first job?

My first job was as a barista at GAIL’s, where I gained my Barista qualification (yes, that’s a real qualification!) and learned how to create latte art. I can still make a great flat white with a heart on top, though unfortunately that particular skill hasn’t proved especially useful during an audit yet…
