A bit about me

Hello, I’m Lewis.

I am nearly a year into audit and have learned a huge amount since starting. While my accounting degree provided a foundation, working in practice has shown me how much there is to learn by getting hands-on experience and seeing how businesses operate in the real world. I’ve particularly enjoyed working with a variety of clients and industries, gaining insight into different business models and the risks or challenges they face.

What I enjoy most about audit is the problem-solving aspect. Reconciling differences down, investigating unusual items or finding a new approach to a task that differs from the last year, I enjoy understanding how things fit together and adding value wherever possible. I also place a strong emphasis on clear communication, aiming to keep my queries straightforward and easy to understand so clients know exactly what information is needed. This helps both sides work efficiently and keeps the audit process running smoothly.

I’m particularly interested in how technology and AI can help improve efficiency by reducing repetitive tasks and allowing teams to focus on higher-value work. I’ve also enjoyed opportunities to visit clients on-site and work with businesses across different sectors, including sports and entertainment. The supportive and collaborative culture at Ecovis has helped me settle in quickly, and I’ve really enjoyed being part of the team.

Personally speaking

  • What are your favourite hobbies?

Going out with friends doing activities or on trips, playing football and going to the gym. Also, I really enjoy walks which I do daily for both the physical and mental benefits.

  • What’s the most daring thing you have ever done?

Probably the Ha Giang Loop, touring around mountains of Vietnam for 4 days on the back of a motorbike where the roads are really narrow / on cliff edges and quite dangerous!

  • If you could have dinner with anyone, who would it be?

Cole Palmer.

  • What one piece of advice would you give your 10 year old self?

Choose something that you enjoy rather than something you think you need to do.

  • What sport would you compete in if you were in the Olympics?

100m sprint – probably the most exciting and watched event!
