Jack Smith

Hello, I’m Jack.

I joined Ecovis in September 2022 following my degree in Mathematics at the University of Bristol, completing my ACA qualification at the end of 2025. This was a long journey full of hard work, but one which was absolutely worth the time investment now that I am through the other side. I have progressed through from an audit junior to an audit senior, to the point where I am constantly working on a wide array of clients in many sectors, ranging from businesses dealing with mortgage portfolios to those in film production.

I really enjoy the variety of clients and work which I get to work on. I love logging in to work knowing that each day will have it’s own unique challenges to traverse. I additionally really enjoy the environment we work in, which promotes learning and development through stepping outside of your comfort zone with the full support of all of those around you. This has allowed me to develop significantly through my time at Ecovis, and is a real strong point of the firm.

As previously mentioned my client base are very diverse, each having their own unique preferences and needs. Being able to understand each of their needs is a particular strength of mine, allowing me to adapt and provide a tailored approach meeting their individual needs, facilitating a smooth audit process for them. I aim to provide clear communication at each stage of the audit, keeping the client as up to date as possible.

Alongside my audit experience, I have a strong interest in investment-related work, with a particular focus on valuation matters and other complex areas requiring detailed financial analysis. I am keen to build on this interest through future corporate finance qualifications, enabling me to further specialise in advising on investments, transactions, and valuation-driven engagements.

• Favourite hobbies

Outside of work, I play football weekly and also go to the gym a lot. I feel like this keeps me in a good mental headspace whereby I’m then able to come into work with a clear head. On top of this, I also play a lot of video/computer games after work too! I find this is a great way for me to unwind!

• Alternative career choice

Unrealistically: A professional footballer
Realistically: Investment Banking – it seems very very hectic, but at the same time it can be lucrative!

• My favourite meal

Anything Italian, probably mushroom risotto or spaghetti carbonara.

• What’s the most exciting thing on your bucket list?

Cliff jumping and/or sky diving.

• Coffee or tea?

I despised coffee when I was younger, but now I love it – so coffee it is.

• Are you a cat person or a dog person?

I’m definitely a dog person.
