Gerry Collins

Hello, I’m Gerry. I am an experienced general practitioner with a particular skillset geared to assisting overseas owned businesses in their early stages of Entering the UK Market. Heading up the inbound start-up work done in the practice, I act for a wide variety of clients by geography and industrial sector. COVID-permitting, I travel on a regular basis to the US, Ireland and throughout the EU.

I joined Ecovis after working previously for BDO, a Top 6 Accountancy Firm, where I acted as relationship manager on a varied client portfolio of corporate clients. Currently, I provide a broad range of outsourcing services to a very varied range of clients. These services include outsourcing of the accounting and reporting function and the provision of ad hoc advice as and when required. I also retain an audit license, mainly to deal with FCA regulated Financial Markets clients.

I am the partner responsible for all SPV (Special Purpose Vehicle) audits in the firm. Our organisation has over 20 years’ experience of dealing with a wide range of Securitisation structures.

Heading-up our service team working with online accounting in the technology and retail sectors, I’m also actively involved in the London Chapter of the Irish International Business Network, IIBN.

There are two aspects I really enjoy about my role at Ecovis – helping to grow the business and helping to develop our staff. Many years of experience allow me to impart my cumulative knowledge to assist clients to avoid the mistakes clients have made in the past.

• Inbound start-up services for mainly US & EU parent entities looking to establish operations in the UK as a springboard to the EU/US depending on circumstances.
• Consultancy services to EU firms planning to open UK offices after Brexit, so they may continue to serve UK clients.
• FCA specialist for inbound start-ups covering all aspects of planning, tax, pre and post authorisation advisory work, and ongoing financial and tax compliance.
• Financial Services SPV auditor

What are you favourite hobbies?

Gardening and foreign travel.

If you could choose an alternative career, what would it be?

Working in a nature reserve in Africa.

What’s the most daring thing you have ever done?

Cycled down Alpe d’huez in a thunder and lightning storm, not to be recommended!

If you could have dinner with anyone, who would it be?

Probably Barak Obama, someone I could listen to all day.

What one piece of advice would you give your 10 year old self?

Treasure the time you have before you become an adult. Life gets more complicated once you’ve grown-up.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?

You have 2 ears and one mouth, use them accordingly.
