Hi, I’m Panayiotis Panteli and I’m an Audit Associate trainee and I joined Ecovis in April 2022
What degree did you study and which university did you go to?
I have been to the University of Sheffield and I studied Accounting and Financial Management.
When did you start thinking about which industry to go into and realise your degree was relevant to accountancy?
Since I was young, I knew that I wanted to have a career within accounting and finance, so I decided to go for a degree which was relevant to this sector. During my university years, I had experience through internships in many different sectors within the industry. I decided that I wanted to follow the Audit career path – and here I am!
What drew you to Ecovis in particular?
The thing that attracted me to work for Ecovis is how they value their employees and therefore their worth thinking mentality.
What advice would you give to students studying the same degree as you?
My advice to the students that are studying Accounting and Financial Management degrees is to gain as much experience as you can through applying for internships and through attending seminars in order to get the understanding of the industry and realise what career path you want to follow.
What skills from your degree have you been able to transfer into your role?
During university, I learnt how to work as a team and this is one of the soft skills that is very useful in my role in Ecovis.
How have you found the transition from university to an ACA training role?
ACA, on it’s own, is a very demanding qualification and in combination with work, it can be a significant change from university to work-life.
Through my enthusiasm and willingness to learn and develop my skills, I managed to have a smooth transition!
What do you enjoy most about your role?
What I enjoy the most about my role are the new challenges that pop up every day. We work with different clients in a variety of sectors and there is always a new challenge ahead!
What do you enjoy most about working at Ecovis?
What I enjoy most about working in Ecovis is the friendly spirit and that we work as a team.
