Hi, I’m Heena Bhadresa. I’m an Audit Semi-Senior and I joined Ecovis in March 2022.
What degree did you study and which university did you go to?
I went to University of Bristol and I studied maths.
What skills from your degree have you been able to transfer into your role?
So the skills I can transfer from my maths degree to an audit role are mainly problem-solving. The thing from the maths degree is trying to work out solutions to theories, but in auditing it’s also figuring out how you can adapt tests for different clients and how you can create tests to prove certain things.
What advice would you give to students studying the same degree as you?
What I would say to people also studying Maths at the moment is enjoy your time at uni, enjoy studying Maths. Don’t worry about having to know any accounting or have any prior experience before coming into this sort of role, because when you start studying towards your accountancy qualification, it is assumed that you don’t have any accountancy knowledge. So, just enjoy your degree, get what you can from it!
What drew you to Ecovis in particular?
The thing that attracted me to Ecovis was the people. What do you enjoy most about your role?
What I enjoy most about my role is the variety of clients we get to work on. We get to see a lot of different industries and in the short time I’ve been here, I’ve been on very different audits. So, getting the different experience has been really good. I also enjoy working with different people in every audit. You get to see different people, different experiences and you to learn different things from every person.
What do you enjoy most about working at Ecovis?
What I enjoy most about working at Ecovis is the culture we have here. The people I work with are amazing. Everyone is happy to help you when you need it, and it cultivates this atmosphere of learning and progressing, which I really enjoy.
