A Journey of Tradition and Innovation
Founded in 1938 in Quimper, France, Armor Lux has long been synonymous with quality, tradition, and innovation in the textile industry. Renowned for its iconic Breton striped shirts and maritime-inspired clothing, Armor Lux has built a legacy of craftsmanship and sustainability that resonates with customers worldwide.
In November 2020, Armor Lux embarked on an exciting new chapter by expanding its operations into the UK market. This strategic move aimed to bring their timeless designs and commitment to quality to a broader audience, while also tapping into the rich cultural and fashion heritage of the UK.
The expansion journey was not without its challenges. Navigating a new market, understanding local regulations, and establishing a strong presence required expert guidance and support.
Today, Armor Lux continues to thrive in the UK, bringing their unique blend of tradition and modernity to fashion enthusiasts across the country. Their journey is a testament to the power of collaboration and the importance of expert support in achieving international success.
The Challenge and Opportunity
Armor encountered a VAT challenge while transitioning from the UK system of C79 certificates to Postponed VAT Accounting (PVA) for its imports. This transition presented both challenges and opportunities in how VAT was paid and reclaimed.
In the UK, C79 certificates show import VAT paid at the border, which can be reclaimed on VAT returns but can negatively impact cash flow. PVA offers a solution by allowing businesses to account for and reclaim import VAT on the same return without upfront payment. By registering under the PVA scheme, Armor has the opportunity to improve cash flow and enhance long-term financial planning, turning a challenge into a strategic advantage.
How We Helped
To help Armor understand the complexities of Postponed VAT Accounting (PVA) , our team delivered customised training sessions tailored to their specific needs. We meticulously guided them through the nuances of the system, ensuring they grasped the critical differences and benefits. Additionally, we played a pivotal role in recovering their lost C79 certificates, which had previously hindered their ability to reclaim VAT.
By successfully activating the PVA scheme, we enabled Armor to account for and reclaim import VAT more efficiently, significantly improving their cash flow.
The Results
With the support from our team, Armor has transformed their approach to VAT management. Equipped with the ability to reclaim VAT and a deeper understanding of VAT regulations, they experienced an immediate improvement in their financial operations. Their improved cash flow has been pivotal in driving business growth.
This intervention was crucial not only in reclaiming significant amounts of VAT but also in bolstering their overall financial stability and planning.
