How do I start a business in the UK?

Setting up a business is an exciting time for anyone but, for a lot of people, it’s also a bit scary knowing where to start and can be fraught with questions.

What structure is right for my business? Should I be looking at a sole trader, partnership or Limited company? What other licenses, insurance or registrations do I need to make? When do I need to file tax returns? How do I get a bank account? How do I employ people? The list goes on! And the answer is that varies from business to business but can actually be quite straight forward, fast and satisfying!

It’s important to know that you’re not alone and that there are many resources and tools available to you. The website has some great guidance and we have a close working partnership with Barclays bank, who have a great new business team. We can help with all aspects of setting up a business and are happy to have a no obligation chat over a coffee or a Teams call to talk you through the process and let you know the bases you need to have covered.

We’ve also got some great publications available on our website such as our Guide to Doing Business in the UK or read more about how we support International industry at every stage of the Entering the UK Market business journey.

As always, please feel free to get in touch with me to discuss your own business plans.
