As part of Mental Health Awareness Week in May, Michael Storey, Jennifer Pass, Sam Harris and Sam Baldwin volunteered to train as Mental Health First Aiders. On the 18th June, the team attended a training course run by Noa Burger, who specialises in training organisations and their employees in Mental Health First Aid.
It was a very interactive course with activities including discussion regarding cause of workplace stress, listening techniques and how to engage in conversation, how to better understand signs of potential mental health issues and the skills to signpost people to support.
After a very productive day, the team were awarded with a certificate which pronounces them as a ‘Mental Health First Aid Champion’. A key takeaway from the course was learning how to promote awareness of mental health in the workplace and setting a platform for colleagues to discuss their mental wellbeing. The team are planning to catch up over the coming weeks to discuss initiatives and ideas to implement at Ecovis and ultimately better the environment we work in to increase wellbeing of all staff.
If you would like to hear more about the course, please ask any of our Mental Health First Aid Champions, who would be more than happy to sit down for a chat. We look forward to hearing more from our Champions over the coming months!
